Lortab
Side Effects
Lortab is used to control
chronic or severe pain. Like alcohol or sedatives, one of the side effects of
Lortab is that it depresses the central nervous system and also has mood-altering
side effects. Lortab can be highly addictive is abused and must be used carefully
in a well-controlled manner. Another harmful side effect of Lortab is that individuals
without a history of addiction can become addicted to Lortab in several weeks.
Sometimes, patients begin with the prescribed dose and go on to use more than
their prescribed dose of Lortab. Some individuals who are addicted to Lortab
make frequent trips to many different doctors and hospitals to get their supply
of Lortab. Others find that their doctor is not properly supervising and authorizes
refills repeatedly, allowing them to slip into Lortab addiction.
Additionally, another side
effect of Lortab is that it induces an "opioid analgesia" by altering
the perception of pain at the spinal cord and brain. Lortab also affect an individuals
emotional responses to pain. Lortab also may have a stimulating side effect
